8 Weeks!

I can't believe how fast time is going!  It really does get faster and faster as I get older.  We are loving life and are having a great time watching Elliot grow.  He is really changing practically every day and is getting so big already!  He can't fit in any newborn clothes anymore and some 0-3 month clothes that are on the smaller side don't fit either!  We compared him this weekend to two baby girls that were born the day after him and he is like a giant compared to them!  Elliot is really long and pretty heavy already, so I'll be interested to see what his stats are at his appointment next week.

This past week was an exciting time.  On his 7 week birthday Elliot went to the zoo for the first time!  There was a group of people from my ward going, so it was a fun time getting out of the house.  Elliot did great for such a long time out of the house!  He took a few naps and was hardly fussy.

We had a couple more outings and then on Friday I was wanting to get some work done, so we were staying close to the house.  One of my friends needed a babysitter for an hour, so I volunteered to watch her 4.5 year old.  Elliot's tummy had been bothering him a lot of the day but he was still acting normal, so I didn't think much of it.  I gave him a bottle right before she got there because he had just woken up from a 3 hour nap.  He downed 5 ounces in about 15 minutes, then I stood up to burp him.  He burped a little and I looked over to see the spit up damage and at the same time I turned my head I heard it hit the floor and the wall.  It was still coming out, too!  He had completely thrown up basically his entire feeding.  It was so scary to me.  Poor Elliot looked freaked out because it was the first time he had had a lot of stuff coming back up.  I quickly set him down, cleaned him up, and immediately called Derek.  I was borderline hysterical crying, but I held it in fairly well because I didn't want to scare the little girl who was so sweet through all of this - she even offered to help me clean it up!  So cute!  Derek is my rock when I fly off the handle, so even though I knew what he was going to tell me to do, he has a calming effect on me, which I was in need of.  I took his temperature and it was fine, so we monitored him for the rest of the night and fed him in smaller quantities and he's been fine.  Now that I've experienced it it (hopefully) won't be so scary, but it certainly was the first time!  Let's cross our fingers that there isn't a next time.

Saturday I went to my cousin's sealing, so it was the first time I was away from El for more than two hours - weird!  He was really good for Derek and slept almost the whole four hours I was gone.  We went to DC for the first time too, and Elliot got to meet a lot of our DC friends.  It was a great time!

Sunday Elliot was great during church and we had an enjoyable Easter dinner with friends.  Monday Elliot got to meet his Great Grandma and Grandpa Cox, who were in town for the wedding.  He had a rough day - I think his tummy had been hurting - but he did give them some smiles before they had to leave!  It was a nice visit with them.

This morning my sweet boy woke up with the sniffles and a cough!  Poor guy.  Luckily there is no fever and he is acting totally normal.  Hopefully it will pass quickly.

So there you have a snapshot into what our life is like right now!  We are happy!

Cute boy was napping on the floor wrapped up in the blue blanket and 10 minutes later looked like this.  How he wiggled into that position and how he did it so quickly, I have no idea!  He is quite the little mover for being so little!

I love these boys.

About two minutes earlier they were both sleeping and Elliot had his hand on Derek's chin.....heart melting.

hi you don't know me, your hubby and mine served together. So I noticed you have posted before about his tummy. I'm sure you have talked to the doctor about it. Lucas our youngest had some tummy trouble when smaller, I tried giving him baby acidophilous(not sure about spelling) and it helped. you can find it in the refrigerated section of a natural grocer. Also, sometimes it happens when they spit up what seems to be their whole bottle. At least with my kids it has never been cause of concern. It was probably because he ate too fast. If he is spiting up a lot after eating, his tummy seems to be very sore, and he is uncomfortable, it could be acid reflux and the doctor can be prescribe something for it. Anyway, I hope you do not mind me intruding so much. plus, you might already know all of this.
Time does go by so fast, enjoy it.
