Elliot - One Month

We made it to one month!  I am a little bit behind, but we're still getting used to our new life.  I wrote in my "baby journal" what Elliot can do at one month.  The list is small, but he is growing so fast and we love him so much!

At 4 weeks Elliot can:

  • Lift his head
  • Smile when he's in the mood
  • Coo (only at Derek!)
  • Take a bottle
  • Take the pacifier
  • Grip anything he can get his hands on with his iron grip
  • Sleeps about 4-5 hours at night in his crib
  • Tracks things with his eyes
At his check up he weighed in at 9 pounds 11.5 ounces and is 21.75 inches long.  His head is 37.5 cm.  He is a growing boy!  He isn't a big fan of tummy time but will tolerate it once or twice a day for short spurts.  He is a fantastic eater and a great sleeper at night time.  During the day he sometimes has a hard time going to sleep.  Elliot just seems to want to make sure he won't miss anything, so he'll fight, fight, fight sleep!  He is usually the happiest in the morning and when Derek is around.  He is a definite Daddy's boy.  He saves his best smiles for his dad and will only coo for Derek.
We transitioned him to his crib just before his one month birthday.  We had had him in a laundry basket with padding (same thing my mom did with all of us) next to my bed, but once he started sleeping a little longer we just weren't getting any sleep because he is such a noisy little guy!  We moved the laundry basket right outside our door for a couple of nights and then eventually to the crib.
Elliot is such a happy little boy.  We have been very lucky to have such a chill son.  He has tummy issues from time to time but seems to be handling it better now.  The only time he cries is if he is extremely hungry, really tired, or if his stomach hurts.  We love our little Elliot!
