The Sickies
My sweet baby is sick. Last Tuesday he woke up with a stuffy nose and a slight dry cough. He acted completely normal and we didn't think much of it because it didn't seem bothersome to him. On Thursday that week I woke up with a hardcore sinus headache, stuffy all of a sudden - out of nowhere! I get sinus infections often, unfortunately, so I know when I have one, but a cold usually precedes it. This time BAM, really bad sinus infection with no warning. Weird! Elliot still seemed to be doing fine, so life continued as normal.
My sinus infection got worse each day and my voice started going on Saturday. Sunday I woke up and was in SO much pain. I looked online at articles about sinus headaches (which was my biggest complaint), and there are four areas where you can get sinus headaches. Well, I had it in every single area! The worst was in my jaw. The pain in my mouth was super bad! I asked for a blessing that morning and we were lucky to find someone in the ward to come help Derek. Later in the day I got a fever. It started off at 98.8 and went up to 101! I have a naturally low body temperature, so anything above 98 degrees to me feels like a fever with the body aches and chills and everything. 101 was really high for me, and I usually don't get fevers with my sinus infections. Monday morning I woke up and felt almost like a new person! There was still some residual effects, but each day since then I have gotten better.
Monday Elliot got his 2 month shots and his stuffy nose/dry cough was still the same as it had been all week. Monday night Elliot woke up after 4 hours of sleeping (he hasn't done that in 3 weeks) coughing his head off, and he's now done that 3 nights in a row. Poor guy! He is usually okay during the day, but the nights are rough on him because he is coughing so much. I'm hoping this is just the end of the cold where the congestion is finally coming up and out. We try to suction his nose and it doesn't do anything, even with the saline drops! It's very frustrating and I'm so sad when I have to watch him cough so hard and I can't do anything to help him. Since his shots he has had an on/off fever and just doesn't seem like his happy self! Hopefully he can kick this cold out and get back to normal soon.

My doctor says to put a pillow UNDER the crib mattress. It will elevate it a little bit. Sick babies are the worst!
